Residents of Nesquehoning should be cautious of a scam.
Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith received a call from a resident who encountered a male with a heavy Indian accent.
The man said his name was Jack Mason and claimed that he was with the IRS.
He began ordering the resident to call the number 206-512-1441 to pay the IRS for a penalty with taxes.
Smith called the number and said that a female answered with a heavy Indian accent.
When he identified himself, she showed signs of nervousness and said she didn't know anyone named Jack Mason, then hung up.
