State police at Lehighton reported investigating a simple assault incident at 2116 Arnold Drive in Effort.

Troopers said a 48-year-old female was attempting to commit her husband, Frank Mundus, 51, for a mental health evaluation when she was struck in the face with a frozen piece of chicken, causing a minor injury to her left eye. Mundus is disabled due to a brain aneurysm and requires constant care.Mundus was taken by ambulance to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for an evaluation. The female victim refused medical treatment. The incident was reported at 7 p.m. on July 10.
