The M.A. Carty Construction Co. has started work on the new bridge at Lehighton for which it was awarded the contract. It is expected that this project will absorb a considerable number of unemployed people.

They are to work six-hour shifts. The job is a vast one, and will require over a year's work to complete. Coffer dams in the Lehigh River will be built as foundations for the bridge piers.
