An 8- year-old boy was seriously injured Friday afternoon when involved in an all-terrain vehicle crash in West Penn Township.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. at 21 Retreat Road.

The first to arrive on scene was West Penn Chief of Police Brian Johnson who immediately ordered an air medical transport to the scene. Johnson stated the youth was operating a three wheel all terrain vehicle and apparently lost control striking a concrete wall.

The youth was treated at the scene then flown to an area trauma center.

The West Penn Fire Company set up a landing zone at the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat.
