The next "Dear Tamaqua" Write Night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 8 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua."Dear Tamaqua" is a collaborative effort, spearheaded by the Tamaqua Safety Initiative. It was launched to encourage community wide pride, focusing on Tamaqua's unique identity.Residents are encouraged to share thoughts and stories of the community through written word, original music, video, poetry, visual art, etc.Material for the project may be submitted in any medium that communicates a personal memory, a unique Tamaqua experience, or hope for the future.All submissions will be accepted, reviewed and archived for future generations.Submissions may be mailed to Tamaqua Safety Initiative, c/o Dear Tamaqua, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, PA 18252. www.deartamaqua.com.For more information, call 570-668-1192.AuditionsThe Tamaqua Area Community Theatre will be holding auditions for the upcoming production of "The Groom Has Cold Feet," an old time Western murder mystery, which will be performed in August.Auditions for actors/actresses, between the ages of 12 and 20, will be held at 6 p.m. July 14, 15 and 16. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied to the audition by a parent.For more information, on any art center activity, call 570-668-1192.Free lunchThe South Ward Playground Association is conducting a free summer lunch program for all local children up to and including the age of 18. Lunches are served weekdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the South Ward Playground.The program is an off shoot of the free school lunch program, with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The non discriminatory program is open to all children. In addition to a healthy lunch, participants will be offered a variety of summer activities.The playground is located between Penn and Race streets in Tamaqua's South Ward.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ.The weekly radio program airs on WLSH-AM 1410 at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays.
