A Mahoning Township man is in jail after police found marijuana during a traffic stop.
Mahoning Township Police stopped a vehicle for speeding at 2:40 p.m. June 17 on Ashtown Drive and discovered a cache of marijuana.
After an officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, a seach revealed a backpack filled with marijuana, a grinder, a box of plastic bags, and a scale.
Emilio Beckett of Mahoning Township, the driver of the vehicle, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance. possession of drug paraphernalia and exceeding the speed limit.
The marijuana has an estimated street value over $2,000.
Emilio was arraigned by Magistrate Casimir Kosciolek and taken to the Carbon County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.
