Sparse attendance marked the 68th annual opening of the Palmerton Memorial Pool on Saturday.
A little over a dozen visitors turned out for the start of the 2014 pool season on a day that was marred by murky weather.Despite the pool temperature at a chilly 64 degrees, the few who did turn out said they were glad to be there. As he slowly tiptoed into the cooler than usual pool, Matthew Andrews of Palmerton, was among them."I'm excited that it's finally here," said Matthew, 12. "I'm going to be here pretty much every day this summer."The weather will only get better this weekend as temperatures Sunday and Monday are expected to hit 80.
