Dr. David J. Moylan used big support from his home county of Schuylkill on Tuesday to win the Republican nomination in the 17th congressional district in a three man race.
Schuylkill County Democratic voters went big for Tom Wolf in his bid to face incumbent Republican Tom Corbett in the fall for governor.
The lack of local races resulted in a very low turnout of voters overall in the county with just over 25 percent of the eligible 84,000 plus voters turning out on a very nice day for voting.
Congressional race
Moylan used a big vote from his home county to defeat the other two candidates, Matt Connolly and Matthew Deitz, both of Northampton County. Connolly and Deitz split the vote in their home county which also helped Moylan win the nomination.
Molyan's total vote for the entire district was 9,209 with Connolly getting 6,949 and Dietz 4,430.
In Schuylkill Moylan, the county coroner, got 6,236 votes compared to 1,163 for Connolly and 818 for Dietz.
The voting in the other counties went like this:
In Northampton County - Moylan 347, Connolly 1,664, and Dietz 1,283.
