Schuylkill Haven driver charged in fatal crash

The driver of the car involved in a crash that took the life of her passenger last July has been charged with homicide by vehicle and other counts.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said they have charged Amie L. Wiscount, 32, of Schuylkill Haven, with homicide by vehicle-while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person, DUI, careless driving and driving on roadways laned for traffic.The one-vehicle crash occurred on July 26, 2013, along Route 443 (Long Run Road) in Wayne Township. Killed in the crash was passenger Daniel E. Wenrich, 40, of Pine Grove. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The initial accident report stated that Wiscount was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport westbound when she attempted to swerve to avoid a deer that had entered the road in front of her. After swerving the vehicle she lost control. The Jeep went onto the west shoulder and struck a tree with the passenger side front bumper and door causing the vehicle to spin clockwise.The Jeep then struck a utility pole with the driver's side front quarter panel and came to rest facing south.Wenrich had to be extricated from the vehicle. Wiscount was not injured.
