Colts, Bears clinch track championships

The Marian boys track team claimed the Schuylkill League Division II title by defeating Schuylkill Haven, while the Pleasant Valley boys earned a share of the Mountain Valley Conference championships by edging Stroudsburg.

TRACK AND FIELDStroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.Trailing 74-71 entering the final event of yesterday's pivotal Mountain Valley Conference track meet, the Pleasant Valley boys picked up five points by winning the 1600-meter relay in 3:29.7 to defeat Stroudsburg by a final score of 76-74.The Bears' come-from-behind victory forced a tie with the Mountaineers for the MVC regular season championship. The two-point victory over the Mountaineers gives Pleasant Valley a share of the conference title for the first time since 1996.Pleasant Valley won 10 of 18 events, including all three relays. The win allowed the Hurricanes to tie the Fillies and Pine Grove for the division title.Bruno won the 100, 200 and 400 in the boys meet.
