Lehighton School Board voted 5-4 tonight to move ahead to seek state funding for a new elementary center.
The project is expected to cost $31.5 million.
Previously the district submitted paperwork for funding to renovate four elementary centers. The board voted tonight to switch the paperwork for a new elementary center.
Voting against the project were Rocky Ahner, Bill Hill, Hal Resh and Lori Nothstein.
