Two concerts are featured this weekend at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.
Tonight, the rock band Queensryche will be performing at 8. Opening will be Red Dragon Cartel.At 8 p.m. Saturday, Sha Na Na is presenting its 45th anniversary show and will highlight songs from the movie "Grease." Sha Na Na was cast as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers in the iconic film.Queensryche is known for immersive, theatrical live performances, and they've toured with everyone from Metallica to Black Sabbath. The band has mounted a "Return to History" tour, emphasizing material their audience has begged for presented in a manner they've never seen to date.Tickets for the performance are $35 at the door.Sha Na Na not only has been in a famous film, but the band played at arguably the most famous concert of all time, Woodstock.Band member Jocko said the emphasis on the 45th anniversary show is Grease, with the band doing 12 songs from the film.Jocko stressed that of course the band will do some of its dance hits, doo wop, and pop songs.This is a return visit for Sha Na Na."It's a great place," Jocko said. "It's like a cozy cabin on the hill. And they have great food."Jocko said people attending the concert are in for a fun evening.We have two things to tell the people, he said.They are "keep on rocking" and "rock and roll is here to stay."
