State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a crash along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, about 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1.

Troopers said Ian D. Werkheiser, 26, of Effort, was following Tammy L. Rother, 36, of Saylorsburg, southbound when he attempted to pass her. He lost control of his 2003 Nissan 350Z as he downshifted. The Nissan spun clockwise and struck the driver's side of Rother's 2007 Hyundai Sonata with the driver's side of the Nissan.The impact caused the Sonata to veer off the road and into trees along the berm. The Nissan continued to spin around after impact and crossed into the northbound lane and onto the shoulder, where it struck trees.Rother sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. Werkheiser was not injured.Troopers cited Werkheiser for passing on the left.
