A Plains, Luzerne County, man was cited by McAdoo police following a traffic stop on Nov. 29, 2013.
Officers were on patrol when they saw a red Subaru Legacy traveling on Kennedy Drive. The car had a Pennsylvania license plate but an out-of-state inspection sticker. The car was stopped and the driver identified as John Maloney Jr., of 240 Bear Creek Blvd., Plains. A strong odor of marijuana came from the vehicle when the driver opened the window. Maloney admitted smoking marijuana about an hour earlier.He was given, and failed, field sobriety tests and was cited for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
