Deanna McIveen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham McIveen of Tamworth, Australia, became the bride of Francis James Maurer, son of John and Nina Maurer of Nesquehoning on Sept. 27, 2013 at sunset on Wakiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Sandy Eade of Australia to be her maid of honor.The bridegroom's brother, John Robert Maurer, performed the duties of best man.Following the service a reception was held at the Orchid Restaurant in Honolulu.The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.The new Mrs. Maurer holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Newcastle.She is employed as an algebra teacher at Newcastle High School in Australia.Mr. Maurer is a 2009 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management.He is currently serving in the U.S. Navy.
