Police investigate Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roads.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 6 along the Burma Road (SR1006), in Blythe Township. Troopers said Brian M. Liptok, 19, of Pottsville, was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder northbound when he traveled over a patch of ice causing him to lose control. The vehicle spun counter-clockwise and flipped onto its passenger side before leaving the road and striking a tree along the berm.Liptok was taken by Pottsville ambulance to the Schuylkill Medical Center(SMC)-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment of back and neck pain. A passenger, Devin B. McShaw, 19, of Pottsville, received a minor laceration to the hand and was treated at the scene.Troopers investigated another one-vehicle crash about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, along Main Boulevard (SR339), in East Union Township. Troopers said Rita A. Suda, 44, of Ringtown, was driving a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound in the village of Brandonville and negotiating a left curve. She failed to stay on the road and the van went onto the east berm where it struck two Pennsylvania Department of Transportation road signs and several small trees. The van came to rest about 20 feet off the road. Suda was not injured. The van sustained minor front end damage and was towed from the scene.Troopers said Suda failed to notify proper authorities of the crash and will be cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.A second crash occurred about 4:05 p.m. on Saturday along SR895 (Summer Valley Road) at the intersection with Chestnut Street, in East Brunswick Township. Troopers said a 17-year-old female from East Stroudsburg, driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty, stopped for a stop sign on Chestnut and traveled across 895 and into the path of a Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Dale J. Buhl, 53, of New Ringgold, who was westbound on 895.The Jeep struck the Ford on the passenger side front bumper area. After impact the Jeep left the road and struck the guide rail.After that it traveled about 45-feet then began to roll onto its roof, entered the eastbound lane, and traveled another 138-feet on its roof coming to rest in the eastbound lane on its roof facing west.Buhl and his passenger, Diane L. Buhl, 56, same address, were injured and taken to the SMC-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, by New Ringgold ambulance. The teen was not injured.Troopers cited the teen for a stop sign violation.
