Two people were seriously injured in a head-on crash that occurred Tuesday along SR248 in Lehigh Township, Northampton County.

Township police said the crash occurred about 8:07 a.m. in the area of Cedar Drive. Police identified the drivers as a 17-year-old male from Lehigh Township, driving a Volkswagen Jetta, and Hailey Noe, 22, of Slatington, driving a Honda Civic.Police said the teen and Noe were both flown by Pennstar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, for treatment of major injuries.The road was closed for two and a half hours while police investigated. Assisting police were volunteers from the Lehigh Township Fire & Rescue.Police added that the exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
