State police at Frackville said slippery and snow-packed roads were the cause of two one-vehicle crashes Saturday morning in Schuylkill County.

A crash was reported at 7:41 a.m. along Route 54 in Ryan Township. Troopers said Christian Hassinger, 37, of Coal Township, Northumberland County, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR westbound when he lost control on packed snow on the road and because the tires on the vehicle were under acceptable tread depths.Hassinger lost control as he crested a hill with the car sliding across the eastbound lane and onto the berm where it went up an embankment.The car then went around a utility pole, slid back down the embankment and back onto the road. It then slid across both lanes and shoulders before coming to rest along the berm.Hassinger was not injured but the vehicle sustained severe damages to the undercarriage and front suspension, troopers said.Hassinger was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.The second crash occurred about 11:25 a.m. along Little Mountain Road, in Union Township. Troopers said Rodney J. Rejuney, 43, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound where the road had compacted snow and slush on it.As Rejuney crested a hill he lost control. The Trailblazer spun counter-clockwise 190 degrees and slid across the northbound lane and onto the berm.The vehicle then slid down a ditch backward and impacted a tree with its left rear corner. The impact with the tree caused extensive damages to the suspension and body of the vehicle.Rejuney was not injured.
