Schools dismissing ahead of winter storm

A few schools in the area have announced they will be dismissing early today in preparation of the upcoming winter storm.

Jim Thorpe School District will begin dismissing its high school at noon; L.B. Morris and Penn-Kidder Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.Panther Valley School District's high school will dismiss at noon; the middle school, 12:30 p.m., and the elementary school, 1 p.m.Our Lady of The Angels Academy, Lansford, will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.Pleasant Valley School District will dismiss the high school at 12:30 p.m.; middle school will dismiss at 12:40 p.m. and the elementary, 1:30 p.m.St. Joseph' Regional Academy, Jim Thorpe, will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. There will be no after care.

St. Jerome's Regional, Tamaqua, will dismiss at 1:20 p.m.

Lehighton Area School District will begin dismissing its middle school at 12:50 p.m.; the high school at 1 p.m., and elementary at 1:30 p.m. There will be no after school activities or finance meeting.

Palmerton Area School District will dismiss the junior-senior high school at 1 p.m., then the elementary. All after school activities are canceled.Tamaqua School District will dismiss two hours early. Modified kindergarten.Snow ban in effectWeatherly Borough is also in a snow ban, beginning at 3 p.m. Residents are asked to follow snow regulations that are in place.
