I had the opportunity to take a driving tour of Game Lands 141 on the Broad Mountain. Very nice and very informative. Since the tour however, a lot of questions are stirring in my head.The bridges they put in are great. Their construction is suitable for Patton to cross with an army of tanks.The roads were fixed, but not for us, the hunters. They are ready for heavy duty travel. The heavy ballast used is not user-friendly. It makes walking or biking a terrible task. I'm not talking mountain bikers either. A lot of fellows I know ride their bikes during hunting season.It makes me wonder why, unless we are allowed to drive in and hunt? But I don't see that happening.Yes sir boys, the roads are all set to drag in the heavy equipment for shale drilling. By the way, the Game Commission does not hold the mineral rights on the land. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. When it happens it will be too late to stop.Right now the waters at Tank Hollow and the Glen Onoko Creek, which by the way is Moore's Run not Jimmy's Run, should be monitored to make sure the water quality stays where it is.Hopefully I'm wrong, but that remains to be seen.A concernedSportsman, Native Chunker,Pete BottE.
