Icy road conditions were blamed for a crash along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County, that involved a Tamaqua driver.
State police at Frackville said Scott Semko, 38, was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram truck southbound about 7:29 a.m. on Tuesday in the left lane when he lost control of the icy roadway. The truck struck the guiderail along the east berm, then bounced off it and struck the side of the trailer portion of a 2009 Freightliner tractor rig operated by Jason Albert, 34, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County.The Dodge came to rest facing in a northeastern direction, partially blocking the southbound lane of travel.No one was injured. Damages were severe to the Dodge which had to be towed from the scene, troopers said. The trailer was not damaged.Troopers also investigated a one-vehicle crash about 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday along SR924 in East Union Township. Troopers said Lesly K. Salguero, 33, of Frackville, was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it.Salguero was not injured.
