Tamaqua bridge work leads to voting change

Tamaqua voters who normally cast their ballots at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise will have a polling place change for the Nov. 5 election. The change is due to the reconstruction of the US 209 bridge in the 200 block of East Broad Street. The voting station will be located at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. The bridge reconstruction project is estimated to be completed in November of 2014. According to Sean Brown, Pennsylvania Department of Tranportation Safety Press Officer, the project is on schedule. The bridge will be widened with pier extensions and the deck, beams and sidewwalks are being replaced. The work is being done by Blooming Glen Contractors Inc. at a cost of $2,493,465.
