Fall cleanupCoaldale Borough will have its annual fall cleanup day on Thursday, Oct. 3. Large items will be picked up, including washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, a limit of four tires and tire rims.All items must have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage, not to exceed 50 pounds, or containers, not to exceed 20 gallon, will be collected.No televisions or electronics.NesquehoningHealing ministrySt. Francis of Assisi Church in Nesquehoning extends a personal invitation to anyone struggling with the grief process in the loss of a loved one.The Fall Bereavement Group will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the parish library, located in the basement of the rectory at 15 East Garibaldi Ave. Sessions will continue each Tuesday for six weeks and are strictly confidential.Please call to register so there is enough material for everyone (there are no fees). You may experience low water pressure and/or water discoloration at this time.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets. There is to be no parking in the alley prior to 9:45 a.m. and absolutely no parking in the vacant lot. Recipients are reminded to bring along extra strong shopping/tote bags.90th birthdayJohn Keltz, Summit Hill, celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 15. He is the husband of the late Julia (Bowan) Keltz and retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service.John is a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.A U.S. Navy veteran, he is a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal from the Battle of Santa Cruz. He served on the USS Enterprise CV-6, the highest decorated ship of World War II that earned 20 Battle Stars.Helping him to celebrate his birthday is a daughter Ginny, wife of Jim Fahr of Nazareth; and a granddaughter, Tracy Spencer of Stewartsville, N.J
