Local artist Renee (Mariotti) Novak spent time over the weekend working on her large crayon portrait on the grounds of the No. 9 Mine and Museum in Lansford. The work depicted a photo of the late Crow Saborn of Summit Hill. Novak said Saborn was one of the last of the deep coal miners in the area. "It was Crow's idea to hold seasonal events at the mine," said Novak, a 12-year volunteer at the mine. This was the seventh piece done by Novak for the museum.
