Michelle Marie Rex, 38, of Penn Street, Tamaqua, has been cited by borough police following a shoplifting incident at the Family Dollar Store, 137 N. Railroad St.
Police were dispatched to the store at 3:11 p.m. where a clerk pointed to a red Chevrolet Blazer that was exiting the lot and noted the thief was driving the vehicle. Officer Matthew Houser stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Rex.Store personnel confirmed she was the person who removed the items, which included candy bars, pens, pencils, a pocket calender, and notebook paper. The items were valued at $10.50.A routine records check indicated that Rex has a suspended driver's license. She was charged with retail theft and driving with a suspended license.
