Two area drivers were involved in a three-vehicle crash that occurred just after 10 p.m. on Friday along SR895 (Summer Valley Road), in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Patty Adams, 59, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer SUV (sport utility vehicle) westbound when she failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the road.Police said the Explorer crossed the center line and struck the driver's side mirror on an eastbound 1998 Ford Club wagon operated by Samuel Burkholder, 39, of Tamaqua, who had taken evasive action. After impact, the Explorer continued west in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2013 New England Freight tractor-trailer operated by Ernest Baehr, 57, of Jim Thorpe.Police said the Explorer came to rest in a ditch along the north berm.Adams had to be extricated from her vehicle by New Ringgold and Deer Lake fire company volunteers. She was then transported by Orwigsburg ambulance to the New Ringgold Fire Company where she was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township.Troopers said Adams sustained non-life threatening injuries and was admitted in stable condition. No one else was injured in the crash. The Explorer and the tractor had to be towed from the scene. The Ford Club wagon sustained minor damages. Also responding were Orwigsburg Fire Company, Schuylkill Haven Ambulance, and Pottsville Ambulance.
