A one vehicle crash was reported at 10:43 p.m. on Saturday along Hawk Mountain Road, in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County, in which the driver is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) count.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said John A. Zawada, 69, of Branchdale, was northbound when he failed to negotiate a right turn. His 2004 Ford Ranger went onto the south berm and over an embankment. After going over the embankment the Ranger struck multiple trees along the driver's side and rear bed cap.Zawada sustained minor scratches but refused medical attention. Damages were termed significant to the Ranger.Troopers said Zawada showed signs of intoxication and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
