On Aug. 10, Native American Shaman and Lehighton resident Melissa Lammy Mondgreen is gathering a tribe of community members to pray in a healing ceremony dedicated to the Lehigh River.
Mondgreen, a healer, herbalist, local business owner and active community member is asking for help and has opened this event to the public."We have disrespected this great life gift that is so vital to our survival with toxins and poison and it's killing us in great numbers," Mondgreen stated. The drumming will take place in the Lehigh River and surrounding land beginning at 1 p.m. at Riverview Park in East Penn Township.Mondgreen selected The Water Blessing Song."We need both land and water drummers," she said. "We are looking not only to raise awareness about what poisons and chemicals are in our local waterways but also for our neighbors to focus on healing and setting intended prayer work to save our environment."For more information or to volunteer as a land or water drummer please contact Melissa or Joe at (570) 386-2791.
