A Lehighton woman is facing a charge of retail theft as a result of an incident which occurred at Wal-Mart in Mahoning Township.
Mary Grace Conarty, 31, has a preliminary hearing scheduled on Aug. 28 before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek.According to Mahoning Township police, on May 15 they investigated a retail theft at Wal-Mart.Police claim Conarty dropped her vehicle off in the automotive department for an oil change. She then filled a cart with merchandise and proceeded through the front checkout purchasing a small number of items.She allegedly told the cashier that the other items would be paid for in the automotive department.Police said she then proceeded to the automotive department where she failed to pay for any of the other items.Conarty reportedly left the store with the unpaid merchandise valued at $239.80, of which police recovered $142.55.
