A New Tripoli man was charged with driving under the influence after Upper Macungie Township police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 5:09 a.m. July 22 on Hamilton Boulevard in Allentown.

Police said James Sweeney, 52, was arrested after police went to the accident scene and witnessed the man exhibiting signs of intoxication.Police said the 2008 Pontiac G6 was towed from the scene.
