State police at Lehighton are investigating the passing of two phony bills at two Monroe businesses, and the entry to a vehicle with items taken.
A counterfeit $50 bill was passed at the Sunoco Service Station, located at 7435 Interchange Road, in Polk Township, and another at the Turkey Hill store located in Chestnuthill Township. Both incidents occurred on June 18.The Jeep Liberty of Susan Ann Frantz, 40, of 416 Ore St., Bowmanstown, Carbon County, was entered while parked near her residence and removed was a wallet. The theft occurred sometime between June 26 at 5 p.m. and June 27 at 8 p.m.
