Throughout the regular season, Matt Reis and his Palmerton/Towamensing coaching staff stressed offense.

For most of the postseason, Reis's players have shown they were listening.Things were no different Monday night as Palmerton/Towamensing collected 15 hits in five innings of play to earn a 15-5 District 18 11-12 year old Tournament victory over Jim Thorpe."The kids hit the ball today," Reis stressed. "We have been pushing all year for that. We're hitting the ball. Everyone one of them."With the victory, Palmerton/Towamensing remained alive in the loser's bracket of the double elimination tournament. It will now host Tamaqua on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.After an half inning of play however, it looked as if Jim Thorpe was going to be the one moving after jumping on Palmerton/Towmansing early thanks to a Derrick Beckham three-run homer.But in the bottom half of the opening inning though, a Brody Boehler two-run double and an Eric Baumgardt three-run homer helped Palmerton/Towamensing turned things around quickly, as it grabbed a 6-3 lead after an inning of play."We stayed up. We fought back, Reis said. "We stayed up the whole game after that opening inning."Jim Thorpe was able to pull closer the very next inning with fielder's choice RBIs from both Nick Rosahac and Zack Searfoss, but that was the closest they would get.Palmerton/Towamensing opened the flood gates in the fourth inning.Tanner Burnett started the inning with a double to left field. Ben Serfass reached base via a walk and Boehler got on base via an error, which scored Burnett. Wade Haydt poked an RBI single to score Serfass and then Owen Reis followed with a two-run double. A batter later, Chris Fredericks capped the huge inning with another long ball - a two-run homer that gave P/T a 13-5 lead.While their bats were getting the job done, Palmerton/Towamensing's Luke Eitner and Boehler took care of things on the mound, allowing only a Trevor Hickey single the rest of the way.Palmerton/Towamensing then ended the game in the fifth when Tanner Burnett delivered a solo homer and Boehler enforced the 10-run rule with a RBI single ."That's a good hitting team," said Jim Thorpe manager Brad DeMarco. "We were able to play hard all game, but they hit the ball where we weren't. It just wasn't our day."It marked the third straight victory and third straight game the Palmerton/Towamensing players rattled off double-figures in hits.In a lineup that eight of 13 players got hits, Owen Reis led the Palmerton/Towamensing charge with two doubles, a single, three runs scored and two RBIs.
