A man was taken to the hospital after losing control of his Jeep and snapping a pole along Valley Road in Lewistown Valley around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Firefighters on scene stated that rain was possibly to blame due to a heavy downpour that hit the area a few minutes prior. Responding were firefighters from Tamaqua and New England/Walker Township. Also responding were Tamaqua fire police, rescue squad, and ambulance, and Lehighton ambulance. The name of the driver was not available as of press time. State police are investigating.
