During a special program, a painting of Attorney William H. Bayer was unveiled to recognize him for his dedication and service to the community and especially to the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and Carbon County Economic Corporation.
The plaque was engraved with the following message,"The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation merged in 2013 and began operating in the former offices of Attorney William H. Bayer at 137 South Street in Lehighton.Attorney Bayer was a founding board member for both organizations and contributed significantly to their success.He had a distinguished trial litigation career, serving early on as regional counsel for some large American corporations like American Express and Gulf and Western Industries, these affiliations afforded him the opportunity to always offer pro bono services to local area families, individuals in need, and to both the CCCC and CCEDC.Born in Lehighton, February 8, 1922, he spent the majority of his life devoted to his family and hometown."The painting and plaque is displayed in the new office.Taking part in the dedication program were his children, Beth Bayer, Barbara McCullion and Stephen Bayer and his son-in-law, Scott Gracely.Dawn Ferrante, executive director, said that the CCCCEDC are presently leasing the office space and hope to acquire the building at some point.
