A consortium presently consisting of the
Y.M.C.A. and the Schuylkill Branch 5120 of Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) is planning on building a community center on land presently owned by the
Y.M.C.A. between Burger King and the Acme Market, fronting on Cedar Street in Tamaqua. Co-chairmen of the consortium are Fred B. Curvey, representing AAL, and Howard F. Miller, representing the Y. The Rev. F. Peter Muhr, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, is also active in the project.
