Cash taken in Carbon burglary

A large amount of cash was taken in a Carbon County burglary. It was one of two investigated by state police at Lehighton.

The residence of Robert Rice, 54, of 305 Hill Rd., Palmerton, Towamensing Township, was entered sometime between 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, and 6:15 a.m. on Monday.Removed was $2,000 in U..S. currency, troopers said.The second burglary was reported at the residence of Betty Ann Sterner, 71, of 106 Lower Middle Creek Rd., Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County.Troopers said the home was entered several times during the time frame of May 1 and 10. On several occasions the criminals moved items around inside the home. They also removed three boxes of baseball cards, valued at $50; four antique books valued at $50; and 30 flexoral pills from a prescription.Troopers also reported on a theft incident. Daniel Gillen, 19, of Kunkletown, reported a white in color Iphone 4s was stolen from his residence at 696 Burger Hollow Road, Polk Township, sometime between 7:30 and 8 a.m. on May 11.Anyone with information concerning any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at 610-377-4270.
