An 'expo'dition through Carbon County.

That's essentially what visitors who attended the Carbon County Home, Garden and Business Expo 2013 at Blue Mountain Ski Area over the weekend received.Presented by the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and the Carbon Builders Association, the expo had plenty of fun-filled events for the whole family.It featured home, garden and business experts on location, educational seminars, food, entertainment, pony rides, face painting, and MoonBounce.Grand prize giveaways were a Weber Grill from RF Ohl, and a Ski Package from Blue Mountain Ski Area, both valued at about $900.A donation of a nonperishable food item was encouraged for Carbon County food banks. Admission and parking were free.As an added bonus, visitors were able to drop off their electronic and universal waste, as Advanced Green Solutions, Inc. of Walnutport, offered a no charge drop-off service.Inside the resort, a multitude of vendors displayed their products.Christopher Hardy, program specialist, R.F. Ohl, Lehighton, said the expo was an opportunity "to have all of us together under one roof."Stephen Pisulak, manager, of Lehigh Gap Installed Sales & Service, Palmerton, said the event was special because everybody "works together, knows each other."Andy Pisulak, president/owner of Palmerton Lumber Company, added that the businesses and people who represented them were able to share their ideas with the public."The county needs growth," Pisulak said. "We love it here."Outside, Madison Fludgate, of Lehighton, was among the many children who took a Pony Ride courtesy of Apollo Farms Ltd. of Palmerton."It's fun," said Madison, 8. "I like to trot."Heather McClure, assistant director, Carbon Chamber & Economic Development, said there were 93 vendors, compared to just 63 last year."We've had a lot of positive feedback," McClure said. "It let's people in the area know what's available to them."Jack Sturm, director of business development, said it was significant that both the Carbon Chamber and Carbon Builders Association joined together several years ago."It's great that we merged this," Sturm said.
