An arrest for violating a burn ban in Schuylkill County has been reported.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jerry A. Bittle, 69, of 1042 Woodland Drive, in North Manheim Township, was cited about 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, for having an open fire in his backyard.As a result Cressona fire companies responded to the scene and extinguished the fire as it began to spread to brush surrounding the residence.Troopers noted that the county instituted a burn ban as of noon on April 5.
