The National Water Works Corp., purchasers of the Mauch Chunk Water Co., serving in East Mauch Chunk, have made tests of the fire plugs in East Mauch Chunk. They found no pressure north of Sixth Street. The company has offered to improve the pressure and pass the costs onto consumers, but has received word that an organized committee will fight the water company regarding this. The Water Company is asking a rate of $30 for each water plug, but the council objects to the request.
