Mahoning Township police are seeking the whereabouts of a man who allegedly tried to buy a firearm while there were outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The individual is Michael L. Smith, 27, of Brodheadsville.Audie Mertz, officer-in-charge of the Mahoning Township Police Department, said the incident happened on Jan. 12 at about 4:01 p.m. at the Mahoning Wal-Mart.The investigation showed that Smith had attempted to purchase a firearm while there were outstanding warrants for his arrest. Michael has been charged with the following offenses:• 1. Sale or transfer of firearms - a felony.• 2. Persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms - a misdemeanor.• 3. Unsworn falsification to authorities - a Misdemeanor.Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911, or Mahoning Township Police at 570-386-2241.
