What's happening at Western Pocono Community Library

In addition to thousands of books, reference materials, newspapers and magazines, the Western Pocono Community Library has literacy programs; children and young adult programs; adult outreach; preschool story hour; summer reading program; and day care and school outreach program/nursing homes outreach programs.

Read to Therapy Dogs happens Thursday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.Currently the library is celebrating National Nutrition Month. Lindsay Vaughn, a registered dietitian with Kinsley's ShopRite is conducting the programs. She held two programs for youth, teaching preschool children what healthy snacking is with the Very Hungry Caterpillar and children in grades 3-12 learned about "Eating the MyPlate Way" and made vegetable pizzas.On Wednesday, March 27 at 1 p.m., senior citizens can learn how to "Eat Healthy Without Breaking Your Budget" at 1 p.m. and then on Wednesday, March 27 at 3:30 p.m., you can learn about a weight loss program titled "Eat, Drink, and Live Right: How to Lose Weight without Losing Your Mind."WPCL holds Saturday Matinee movies. On March 30 it is "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" (PG). All movies begin promptly at 1 p.m. and will be shown in the Community Room. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.The library hours are: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sundays.For more information visit
