The Kidder Township Board of Supervisors held a brief meeting on Thursday, March 21. The supervisors approved the payment to Carbon County on the narrowband project.

Carbon County has been working on the narrowband radio project with area municipalities since early 2011 when the county commissioners decided to help ease the burden emergency personnel were facing as a result of the federal mandate by applying for a countywide grant.The total cost of the countywide project, which included the switchover of radios that were capable of receiving lower frequencies, was approximately $920,000. Of that total, the county received a $907,000 grant from the state local share funds. Municipalities will split the amount that was not covered under the grant, which is under $13,000. The county has determined the percentage for which each municipality would be responsible.In other business, the board agreed to pay the township's regular bills in the amount of $98,436.02.The township adopted Resolution No. 2013-003 Establishing Fees for an Appeal to the Joint Board of Appeals. Also approved was a request from the Lower Towamensing Township Board of Supervisors requesting fire police services for the Carbon County Fair, which is scheduled for Aug. 6-10. The approval is contingent on the fire police being available at the time.The board briefly discussed the issue of recycling, but decided to table the discussion until the next meeting, which is scheduled for April 18 at 7 p.m.Barbara Fransoza, of the Friends of the Penn Kidder Library Center, addressed the board. Fransoza informed the board that the new library, which is located at the Pine Pointe Plaza in Albrightsville, will be opening in less than three weeks. The library hours will be Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with additional hours of 4-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.There will be a zoning hearing board meeting, March 27.
