Palmerton lifters earn gold at competition Palmerton High School recently earned first place in the small school division of the 2013 Pennsylvania State Teenage Powerlifting Championships, held in Emmaus. Members of the team include, front row from left, Alex Raub, Darris Rodrigues, Alec Declong, River Rodrigues; second row, Maclain Allen, Tyler Rodgers, Anthony Maradeo, Reece Heiney, Jericho Burger; third row, Jacob Horn, Tre Nelson, Sam Zmyeski, Joey Bradberry, Matt Semmel, Steven Johnson; back row, Nate Silfies, Nick Sanders, Issac George, Garrett Perschy, Owen Miller, Eric Marlatt and Toby Sanders. Individually, Nelson earned first place in the 198-pound class with a 1335 total. Palmerton lifters who finished second include Toby Sanders at 114 pounds, Nick Sanders at 132, Horn at 181, Maradeo at 220, Raub at 242, Semmel at 275, and Miller at 275-plus.
