State police at the Lehighton barracks released results of roving drunk driving patrols conducted over the period of Feb. 1-28 on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.
As a result three motorists were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or a controlled substance. Also, two motorists were drinking, but were released after passing field sobriety tests, 14 citations were issued, two motorists were arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance, and one individual was cited for underage drinking.The operation was conducted as part of the state police Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Driving (STEAD D), designed to reduce the number of drunk driving fatalities, and injuries.
