Will it be one inch of snow or a foot?

That seems to be the question on everyone's mind, including some meteorologists, as Winter Storm Saturn treks through the Northeast and the TIMES NEWS coverage area today.A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service for Carbon, Monroe and Northampton counties, stating that "a snowfall event is expected with generally one to three inches of accumulation."Models with AccuWeather and the Weather Channel have also shifted to reflect the National Weather Service's forecast for mainly a low snow total event.AccuWeather is calling for one to two inches possible by the time the storm pulls away; while the Weather Channel is forecasting slightly higher numbers, in the range of two to four inches.These forecasts have drastically changed from yesterday, when totals on some weather stations, including the Weather Channel, soared to near one foot.The final track of the storm, as well as its speed, will determine if this area gets hit or is spared from Saturn's wrath.By Thursday, the storm should have moved out of the region, but snow and rain showers could linger before 1 p.m. Otherwise it is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 40.Snow showers may continue Thursday night and Friday morning, but no accumulations are expected.The weekend brings some much needed relief in the form of sun and temperatures hovering near the 50 degree mark.Think spring!
