Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes probed by troopers on Schuylkill County roads.

A crash occurred about 10:47 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, along SR61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Joan R. Flecha, 49, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox southbound in the left lane and traveling too fast for slush on the road. She lost control of the vehicle as it traveled across both lanes onto the west berm.The Equinox traveled along the berm before impacting with an embankment. It then traveled along the embankment for about 120 feet while rolling over one time and impacting with a tree with the driver's side front. The Equinox continued traveling along the embankment for another 85 feet while rolling over again and coming to rest on its wheels facing east.Flecha and her passenger, Andrew P. Chillemi, 31, of Pottsville, were both injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.Flecha was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed, troopers said.The second crash occurred about 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, along SR443 in Union Township. Troopers said Dale A. Neidig, 73, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound and traveled over an icy patch. Neidig lost control of the truck, which traveled across both lanes and onto the north berm. It then traveled into a ditch and struck an embankment with the driver's side front.The truck continued along the embankment and spun 180 degrees counter-clockwise before impacting with the embankment with the passenger side mirror area. It came to rest along the north berm facing west.Neidig was not injured. The truck had to be towed from the scene.
