Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church will again host a GriefShare program designed to assist those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The course is Biblically based, but non-denominational.Meetings will begin on Feb. 6 and will then be held Wednesdays, at 7 p.m., for the next 13 weeks. Meetings will be held in the church conference room, at 223 E. Broad St.; Tom's Auto and Marine, Greenwood Street and Mountain Avenue; and Koch's Farm Service in the Lewistown Valley.For more information, call McGovern's office at (570) 628-1433.Snow rulesWith the constant possibility of winter weather looming, Tamaqua residents are reminded of borough rules concerning snow removal.Property owners are required to maintain a clear path, at least three feet wide, on sidewalks. Snow and/or ice must be removed from these pathways within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm.Snow, ice and other materials may not be thrown into the streets. Fines of $25 and up may be imposed on anyone caught throwing snow or ice into the street, or who fails to maintain a snow-free pathway.In addition, individuals who plow snow from in front of homes and businesses must REMOVE any piles of snow they create. Anyone piling snow in the street/parking areas could be cited.Residents are also to refrain from piling snow near fire hydrants or on top of storm drains and are encouraged to clear snow from these areas.Further information is available by calling (570) 668-3444 or (570) 668-0300.SS. Peter and PaulFirst Friday will be observed next week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. First Friday confessions will be heard Feb. 1 at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m. Communion calls will begin at 9 a.m. For congregants in Coaldale and Hometown, communion calls will be made Thursday, Jan. 31.Feb. 2 is the Feast of St. Blase and Fatima Saturday. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a recitation of the Rosary and Devotions before the 8 a.m. Mass. The Blessing of Throats will be held after the 8 a.m. MassMembers of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on Feb. 3 and receive Holy Communion as a group. A rosary will be said before the Mass.
