Three men were sentenced on criminal charges in Schuylkill Count court and all were placed on probation.
Jeremy Harris Shechtman, 31, Suedberg, Pine Grove Township, on a charge of possession of a prohibitive offensive weapon (baseball bat with a steel clamp attached), was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin to serve five years probation. On a charge of possession of a controlled substance received a concurrent one year probation sentence, and ordered pay $200 to the Substance Abuse Education (SEA) fund, $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), and a $50 fee to the district attorney for a bench warrant. Shechtman was cited by Trooper Jeffrey Hummel when responding to a domestic dispute.Jose Antonio Diaz-Vazquez, 38, Mahanoy City, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced by Judge Dolbin to serve 12 months on probation. He received credit for serving five days in the county prison, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, and a $50 bench warrant fee to the district attorney. On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana he received a concurrent 30 days probation sentence and ordered to pay $100 to the SAE fund. He was cited by Mahanoy City Cpl. Michael Dissinger.Joshua Adam Phillips, 27, Shenandoah, who was found guilty by Judge James P. Goodman after a non-jury trial was sentenced to serve six months on probation on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, fined $300, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, enroll and successfully complete the alcohol highway safety school. On summary charges, driving while his operating privileges were suspended was fined $200, failing to have proper lighting equipment on his car was fined $25 and failing to wear a seat belt was fined $25 plus $150 in costs. Phillips was cited by Trooper Michael Becker when stopped in Shenandoah.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
