That's the motto adhered to by Backwoods Outdoor Center in Walnutport, a family-run business owned by Kathy Kocher, with assistance from her husband, Rick Kocher, and family.Located at Lehigh Drive, the business has been open since March. Prior to that, it had been known as Dettmer's Outdoor Recreation.Kathy said the business specializes in All Terrain Vehicles, snowmobiles, outdoor power equipment, service and parts, and accessories."We're pretty much taking the foundation we have already established with Polaris, which we feel is one of the best brands of recreation ATV's," Kathy said. "We run a full service department, and can service any brand."So far so good, according to Rick, who noted customers come from Jim Thorpe, Mt. Pocono, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and even as far as Virginia.Rick said the business has received positive feedback from its customers. Kathy added "we treat our customers fair and simple."Rick agreed, adding "we want to treat our customers the way we want to be treated at the store. There's no smoke and mirrors here."Kathy stressed "our goal is to be the number one Polaris dealer in the area; we want to be number one.""I think there's a lot of potential in this business," she said.
