One of the worst floods in the history of the ravaging Lehigh River has caused very major destruction in Mauch Chunk. It was followed a few months later by another disastrous flood, occurring on Feb. 28, 1902. The river went on a rampage on both occasions, overflowing its banks. Also having damage was the borough of Weissport, as well as some downstream towns such as Walnutport.
